The College of Engineering recently opened up its Makerspace hosting a range of facilities essential for building physical computing prototypes. The facilities range from 3D printers, laser cutters to CNC mills. More about the COE Makerspace here.
Our lab took a trip to Makerspace this summer to get acquainted with their facilities. In fall, undergraduate students can take ENGR 111 to get started with using the Makerspace tools. A graduate seminar course, equivalent to ENGR 111, is in the making. UIC students enrolled in the College of Engineering can use Makerspace for free for any academic projects. The Makerspace staff is also available to help out with the student projects. We are excited to collaborate with COE Makerspace in our ongoing and future HCI research.
